New Trends in 2023 Plastic Surgery Procedures
When it comes to cosmetic surgery trends, once a procedure becomes popular, it rarely goes out of style. All of the tried and true staples will continue to remain popular in 2023, but there is still plenty of room for some new, popular plastic surgery procedure trends to emerge.
Procedures catering to the specific needs of male clients is one of the interesting trends that will continue in popularity in 2023. Whereas women have sought out plastic surgery for decades, men have only emerged as seeking out surgical answers for their problem areas over the last 10 to 15 years. Another trend in 2023 is that we are seeing both women and men looking for procedures that are more intimate in nature- altering the appearance of the genital area for aesthetic purposes is another way patients can become comfortable and confident in their own skin.
Renuvion Skin Tightening
There may be a reason- whether a medical condition or a personal choice- that keeps a person from wanting an invasive surgical procedure that requires excisions like a facelift. In those instances, there is an alternative procedure called Renuvion.
Renuvion is a skin tightening procedure used to eliminate and reduce the signs of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of aging. Renuvion does not use any surgical scalpels to remove and tighten skin. Instead, the use of a small cannula-like wand is used on the surface of the skin. Through the use of radio frequency and helium plasma technology, this wand heats beneath the surface of the skin, promoting the growth of collagen beneath. Additionally, the skin shows immediate signs of tightening through tissue stimulation.

Male Liposuction
Liposuction is the most popular plastic surgery procedure for men and will continue to trend popularly for men in 2023. Male liposuction most often focuses on the removal of fat from the lower abdomen and “love handles,” or sides, although men also get fat removed from their chest, backs, and shoulders via liposuction. Men who undergo male liposuction achieve a sculpted and toned physique they can be proud of.
Aside from the location of where the fat is removed from being different, male liposuction is done in the same way that liposuction is performed on women. A slim cannula is inserted into the skin just like an IV needle, removing stubborn fat cells and suctioning them out of the body as the surgeon sculpts the targeted areas with back-and-forth movements.
Gynecomastia Correction
Gynecomastia corrective surgery, more frequently given the easier-to-remember moniker of “male breast reduction,” is the second most requested cosmetic surgery performed on men. Male breast reduction treats gynecomastia, a condition where the tissue of the breast is enlarged. Most men associate the appearance of fuller breasts as looking feminine or undesirable. In order to achieve a smoother, more masculine chest, excessive fat around the breasts is removed.
During a male breast reduction surgery, the surgeon will create a small incision around the areola of the breast, extending downward along the natural curve of the body, and remove the fat cells that have given the appearance of larger breasts. Removing this excessive fat tissue around the chest will allow men to feel more confident in 2023 with and without their shirts off.
Penile Enhancement
Even though it’s not possible to entirely alter the appearance of the penis, there are some non-surgical techniques that provide girth to the penis’ shaft. Penile enhancement, or penile enlargement, is a quick and non-invasive procedure, taking only about 20 to 30 minutes, but having long-lasting results that give patients more confidence in and out of the bedroom.
Penile enhancement increases the penis’ width, but can also add a small amount of length to the penis in some cases. The surgeon performs penile enlargement by injecting hyaluronic acid dermal fillers into the penile shaft and glans. Other than some bruising and swelling, the recovery process is easy and fast, allowing sexual activity to resume within one week of the procedure. As awareness of this procedure increases, more and more men in 2023 will seek a penile enhancement.
Labiaplasty
Although it’s usually men that tend to be loudest about being dissatisfied with their genitals, women also have insecurities about the look of their private areas. Labia hypertrophy is a condition where the inner folds of the vulva, called the labia minora, extend beyond the outer folds, called the labia majora. This can cause the inner folds to get twisted or pulled, causing discomfort. Having an enlarged labia minora is aesthetically undesirable to many women, resulting in wanting to have the inner lips of the vulva surgically reshaped and rejuvenated via a labiaplasty.
Forehead Reduction
Forehead reduction, otherwise called hairline lowering, is a surgical procedure used to reduce the vertical width of the forehead. Having a high hairline or the appearance of a large forehead causes self-consciousness, often resulting in the person trying new hairstyles, hats, or scarves to work around the appearance of their hairline. Using accessories to cover up a part of your face and head can be tiring and anxiety-inducing, and 2023 brings forth the trend of a permanent fix. By making small incisions along the hairline itself, a forehead reduction is performed by then removing excess skin, and pulling the hairline lower. The scar caused by the incision is easily hidden in the hairline, making this a desirable alternative for patients who wish to narrow the appearance of their forehead.

Brazilian Buttock Lift
In 2012, only 8,500 people in the United States got a Brazilian Buttock Lift (BBL). In less than 10 years, that number has dramatically increased, with nearly 50,000 BBLs performed in 2020. During a Brazilian Butt Lift, fat cells from the belly, thighs, back, or hips are harvested via liposuction, and after being processed and cleaned, the cells are then injected into the buttocks. While liposuction typically results in a trimmer physique, the buttocks are rounder, firmer, and have more volume due to the added fat cells.
