How Long Is Recovery After Otoplasty?

A protective head bandage is worn for the first few days after surgery, followed by a lighter headband worn at night for several weeks to protect the ears while they heal. Strenuous activity, contact sports, and anything that risks direct impact to the ears should be avoided for several weeks, as directed by Dr. Ortiz. Swelling and mild discomfort are common initially and typically improve steadily over the first 1 to 2 weeks.
