Considering a mommy makeover? Find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions here.
A mommy makeover surgery is a single stage meant to rejuvenate the areas most impacted by pregnancy: the breasts and abdomen. The surgery is a breast procedure combined with an abdominal procedure, although you may add arm or leg procedures like an arm lift or thigh lift.
During your consultation with Dr. Ortiz, he will discuss your goals, the nature of the mommy makeover, cost, and what you can expect in regards to recovery, complications, and scars. He will share results from previous patients so you can visualize your results.
Ideal candidates for a mommy makeover are in good health, at a healthy weight, and are not planning on becoming pregnant again. You will be able to have children after a mommy makeover but it may reverse the effects of the surgery. If you have any questions or concerns about whether a mommy makeover is right for you, Dr. Ortiz will be happy to answer them at your consultation.
The cost of a mommy makeover varies but generally, it is the combined price of your chosen procedures with a slight discount. Dr. Ortiz will discuss the cost of your surgery during your consultation.
We require a payment of 25% of the total cost up front to secure your surgery date. The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than two weeks before the surgery takes place. While most cosmetic surgeries are not covered by insurance, we offer a cash discount and accept Care Credit and all major credit cards.
The cost of your procedure includes all pre-op and post-op appointments, anesthesia, the surgery and surgical materials, as well as any post-op compression garments. Prescription pain medication is not covered in the cost of surgery and is not dispensed by North Raleigh Plastic Surgery.
After your mommy makeover, your breasts and abdomen will be more youthful and look more like they did before pregnancy. It is important to know that a mommy makeover tightens and firms the breasts and abdomen, but it is not a weight loss surgery.
On the day of your surgery, you can expect to be at the clinic for 4-7 hours. The procedure itself takes 3-6 hours.
After your mommy makeover, you will need someone with you for the full 24 hours following the procedure. You will be recovering from anesthesia during this time and it is important that someone drive you home and stay with you. Plan to take at least two weeks off of work and avoid strenuous activity and exercise for 6 weeks. You will be on narcotic pain medication and unable to drive for at least one week following surgery. Plan to sleep on your back or side, with your upper body and feet elevated. (Many patients choose to sleep in a recliner during recovery.)
You will have a minimum of 3 appointments with Dr. Ortiz after your mommy makeover: one appointment a week after the surgery, one appointment at 2 months post-surgery, and the final appointment at 6 months after surgery. If you need to see Dr. Ortiz at any time between these appointments, please call us.
