Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, he served as Chief of Surgery for the 14th Combat Support Hospital during his deployment to Afghanistan. Dr. Ortiz established North Raleigh Plastic Surgery after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.

Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation FAQ

Does a breast lift with augmentation cost more than a breast lift alone?

The price of breast implants and the additional time needed in the OR increase the cost of a breast lift with augmentation compared to a lift without implants.

Is the recovery longer after a breast lift with implants?

The recovery following any cosmetic breast surgery takes about the same time. You can expect swelling to peak during the first week and then take several weeks to resolve fully. After a breast lift with implants, you should plan to take about a week off from a job that doesn't require physical activity.

How long do breast implants last?

There is no "expiration date" for implants, but most last for 10 years or more. If you're happy with their appearance, there is no reason to replace or remove them. If you get silicone gel implants, you should schedule an imaging test every 3 years.

Are breast lift scars noticeable?

The incision locations for breast lift surgery depend on the severity of breast sagging. If you have minimal sagging, the incision is made around the areola. In most cases, however, another incision is made vertically from the areola to the crease of the breast. Another horizontal incision may be needed for additional correction. With proper care during the recovery, scars usually fade significantly during the first year after your surgery.
